Introduction

The NEET 2025 (National Eligibility-Cum Entrance Test) for undergraduate students was conducted on 4th May 2025 (Sunday) by NTA, considered the toughest exam since 2016. Around 22.7 lakh candidates across India attempt this exam. In this article we will discuss the NEET UG 2025 exam conducted by NTA, its overall insights and about the idea of fall in cut-offs of NEET UG 2025.

Not as a career counselling, but as a concerned parent, my career pathshala connected with the students and found that the portion of Physics and Chemistry was found moderately tough, and Biology was lengthy. Our expert team predicts a significant drop in the cut-offs this year, which can be beneficial for students seeking opportunities in medicine and getting predictions of easy admission.

We also connected with medical education mentors and discussed the students coming out crying. Physics was considered as the game changer in NEET 2025, but as a continuous decisive subject, it reversed the game this year. Our students and mentors also discussed that biology is not conceptually difficult but found lengthy. Questions were usually detailed and demanded close reading, which put extra pressure on time management even for students familiar with the topic.

What are the key observations in physics?

key-observation-300x158.png

As we’ve discussed about the key difficulties of the Physics exam, here we’re going to understand more about the observation done by mentors and students:

  • Highlight Conceptual Clarity: A large proportion of questions examined the comprehension of concepts instead of the application of explicit formulae.

  • Sneaky Numericals: There were some questions with numerical answer choices in between and needed appropriate interpretation and application of various concepts.

  • Long Questions: Some questions were alleged to be long, requiring careful reading and understanding before attempting to solve them.

  • Distribution of Topics: Preliminary feedback indicates an overall even split of questions across a range of topics within the Class XI and XII syllabus with a strong emphasis on topics such as Mechanics, Electromagnetism, and Modern Physics.

Here are some briefs of the NEET exam of 2025. Let’s discuss:

  • It is also the main concern of the students and mentors that the question paper leaks in some states.

  • Consulting with experts, parents, and students for the NEET UG exam 2025 was far more difficult than expected.

  • Parents and students express a deep sense of anxiety and frustration.

  • According to experts, NEET Physics demanded step-by-step solutions and deep cross-topic knowledge, challenging students to their limits of analysis.

  • Many candidates found the exam difficult to complete in three hours. As a result of long questions across all the courses—particularly Chemistry and Biology—students struggled to finish the paper at ease within the stipulated time. The chemistry part was particularly noted for having a tough format, particularly with multiple correct answers.

How does the NEET exam difficulty impact on MBBS Admission 2025?

Here are some direct impacts which is done due to the NEET UG Exam 2025 difficulty level:

The main question arises that how does this impact on the cut-offs predictions? So the answer is- The NEET UG 2025 exam’s difficulty, especially in Physics, and the return to the pre-COVID pattern with 180 mandatory questions are key factors influencing cut-offs predictions. While the number of candidates slightly decreased and seat availability is expected to rise, the tougher exam might lead to lower cut-offs, particularly for top government medical colleges. Tentative general category cut-offs are projected in the 720-125/131 range. However, these are early estimates, and official cut-offs will be released with the results in June 2025. Admission cut-offs will further vary by college and category.

The Most Favourite Abroad MBBS Admission Destination In 2025 (country-wise)

It is difficult to predict country-wise MBBS abroad admissions in 2025. However, going by the prevailing trends, Russia, Georgia, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Uzbekistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, and the European Union countries are expected to remain popular due to the affordability factor, English-medium programs, and NMC recognition. China and some of the European countries are also likely to continue being popular despite potentially increased demands. Aspects like NEET scores, fee structure, degree recognition, language, visa policies, educational quality, security, and FMGLE (To be NExT) exam preparation will be significant determinants in decision-making among students. Turnout will be dependent on NEET results and shifting policies, and hence aspirants need to keep themselves abreast of specific university requirements and admission policies.

NMC guideline for MBBS Abroad Admission and countries to target

NMC Guidelines for MBBS Abroad Admission:

The National Medical Commission (NMC) has issued some obligatory guidelines for Indian students applying for MBBS abroad admissions in 2025 to validate their degrees in India. The major points are:

  • NEET Qualification

  • Minimum Course Duration- 4.5 + 1 year

  • Medium of Instruction- English

  • Curriculum and Internship- Included in the course curriculum

  • License to Practice in the country at par with the citizens of that particular country

  • Common subjects- 19

  • No transfer case- degree valid only if MBBS completed from one university (1st year to final year)

Countries NOT to Target for MBBS Abroad Admission

Considering affordability, quality of education, NMC recognition, and the medium of instruction (English), some popular countries for Indian students are not FIT at all, let’s see the list with valid reasons:

Here are some countries which don’t fulfil the criteria of NMC guidelines, some reasons are:

  • Kyrgyzstan: Offer less than 5 years course of MBBS and not proper internship programs which are necessary.

  • Belarus: Students may not get local licenses immediately, breaching NMC rules.

  • Moldova: Still developing medical education infrastructure.

  • Philippines: They offer a dual degree system which is breaching the NMC rules.

  • Uzbekistan: Do not meet the criteria of a 5.5 Years medical course.

  • Timore Liste: Weak academic ecosystem and negligible clinical exposure.

  • Caribbean Countries (USA): Students cannot practice in Caribbean nation which violates NMC rules

Conclusion

NEET UG 2025 is the toughest exam noticed since 2016, mainly due to a challenging Physics paper with concept-based questions and long questions throughout, impacting time management. There was a fall in the number of applicants by a small margin, but the increased level of difficulty will enhance the probability that there would be a fall in cut-offs, and medical colleges would become more accessible. Although MBBS abroad is still a viable option with certain regulations under NMC and privileged nations in Russia and Georgia, the NEET 2025 challenge indicates the stiff competition for medical seats within and outside India. The final cut-offs trends and admissions will be declared with official results.
