Tairunnessa Remembrance Medical College is undoubtedly Bangladesh's greatest MBBS college. Late.M. Shamsul Haque (who founded the institution in 1995) named it after his beloved mother, late Tairunnessa, who was recognized for being a social reformer.

MCI, IMED, AVICENNA, and a few other medical committee bodies acknowledge the college, and it is registered with WDOMS (World Index of Medical Colleges). In the year 2008, a nursing college was started, offering the degree of B.Sc.Nursing.
