FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTION

How would FMGE 2021 Rule impact MBBS Abroad Admission?

The MBBS aspirants would be adversely affected by the FMGE 2021 norm. The NMC's rules and regulations would be a major source of concern. If you are a student at a medical college in India or abroad, you must take the NExt exam in order to be considered for an internship. However, if you are taking the NExT exam after completing your MBBS at an international medical college, you must first complete your internship successfully there. After obtaining a medical practitioner's license from another country, you must take the NExT in order to begin your Internship in India.

To obtain a license as a medical practitioner in India, you must do two internships, one overseas and one in India followed by the below norms:

  • Earned a foreign medical degree with English as the medium of instruction.

  • Completed a course leading to a foreign medical degree that lasted at least 54 months in continuity.

  • Completed a minimum of twelve months of internship at the same foreign medical institution.

  • Registered with the respective professional regulatory body or otherwise, competent to grant a license to practice medicine in their respective jurisdiction of the country in which the medical degree is awarded and at par with the license to practice medicine given to a citizen of that country.
