Timeline of Applications
In Nepal the admission cycle for international students wishing to study MBBS follows MEC’s calendar; it does not adhere to the NGMC’s academic calendar. This means that registrations for the MECEE and NEET-linked seat allocation announcements are typically made mid-way through the year, after results for India’s NEET-UG examination. Due to these variations, you should check mec.gov.np or NGMC’s notice board for up to date details rather than assuming there is a fixed date.
Student Life at Nepalgunj Medical College
Campus Activities
NGMC has sports facilities, library and media resources besides academics. Day-to-day concerns are looked after by student welfare committees.
Cultural Events:
The calendar includes festival celebrations, college anniversaries (25th and 27th marked in recent years), and department-level events bringing together the mixed student body.
International Student Community:
With a sizeable intake from India and SAARC countries, hostels and mess facilities generally accommodate Indian dietary preferences alongside local Nepali food — a comfort often flagged for homesick first-year students.
Career Prospects After MBBS
Practice in India:
MBBS from NGMC alone is not sufficient for practice in India; one needs to clear the corresponding license exam and register with NMC.
FMGE/NExT:
Presently, an Indian student graduating from abroad has to appear in the FMGE test in order to practice in India; FMGE itself is merging into the broader NExT program. It’s better to check the current notification from the NMC as there could be changes.
Postgraduate Study:
The student can go for postgraduate studies in Nepal (MD/MS from Kathmandu University, conducted in several specialties through NGMC), or he can go for postgraduation in India by clearing the NEET-PG test.
Internationla Career Paths:
NGMC is registered in the World Directory of Medical Schools, and hence one is qualified to give the tests like USMLE in USA or PLAB test in UK.
