Why Choose College of Medical Sciences?

Quality Education

CMS provides students with an interactive learning environment that includes lecture-based instruction integrated with clinical and community-based instruction in a problem-based learning model for studying medical matters.

Global Recognition

CMS is recognised by the Nepal Medical Council and listed in WHO's World Directory of Medical Schools (WDOMS), with stated recognition from the Sri Lanka Medical Council, UK's General Medical Council, and FAIMER, USA — supporting licensing pathways in multiple countries, including India's FMGE/NExT route.

Practical Training

Actual clinical exposure begins during student's first semester. The clinical phase consists of five (5) semesters covering clinical subjects including Medicine, Surgery, Ophthalmology, ENT, Obstetric/Gynaecological, Forensics, Community Medicine, Pediatrics, Psychiatry, Dermatology, Orthopaedics, Radiology and Anesthesiology.

Experienced Faculty

CMS has trained graduates for over three decades since the mid-1990s, with a long-standing faculty base across pre-clinical, para-clinical, and clinical departments.

Indian Faculty

Established by Shri Nagender K. Pampati and Dr. V. Natraj Prasad under ISME, CMS has historically drawn a significant share of its faculty from India and other SAARC countries.

Safe & Friendly Environment

Bharatpur sits on the Narayani River near Chitwan National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The CMS campus has separate hostels for male and female students, a central library, and recreational facilities.

Clinical Exposure & Practical Training

Attached Teaching Hospital -

The CMS Teaching Hospital is the only one in the Chitwan Valley on which clinical training is conducted. It has been open since January 21, 1999. There, the first successful kidney transplantation outside of the Kathmandu Valley was reportedly performed on April 11, 2015.

Patient Flow & Clinical Exposure-

Growing evil, as a primary referral hospital for Bharatpur and the larger Chitwan region, exposes students to fairly high-volume cases across major specializations. CMS collaborates with BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences in Dharan and also with BP Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital. It had links with the Royal College of Physicians of Edinburgh and AFRIMS Bangkok.

Internship Opportunities-

Compulsory for one year, the rotating internship across all concerned clinical specialties, conducted within CMS's teaching hospital and community health centers, provides interns with a most feasible continuity in the same environment during their clinical years.

Documents Required

  • 12th or A-Level mark sheet / transcript

  • Passport page showing name and nationality (Aadhaar/Voter ID provisionally for Indian candidates)

  • NEET/SAT score sheet of the current academic year, if available

  • Recent passport-size photograph

  • 10th mark sheet

  • Birth certificate (age proof)

Application Timeline of College of Medical Sciences(CMS):

From the end of August through October, the College of Medical Sciences (CMS) typically opens applications for new MBBS batches, right after the NEET results are released and the admission schedule from Nepal's Medical Education Commission (MEC) is announced. Each year varies, but this will be posted on the CMS official website within a few months of the previous year's program. Also remember that students applying from India must keep track of the MCC/National and State Counselling timelines (may coincide with Nepal).
